I can only imagine what the Bar lounge rooms that Manet ( The Painter) frequented were like. A source of painting models. Heavy curtains, big open chairs, dark with lamps and noisy with black and white stripes on various garments and upholstery and the smell of cigars and tobacco pipes; ladies lounging, with their eyes around the room. No two scenes the same.
